What is stone wool insulation and how is it made?
Stone wool is non-combustible mineral fiber spun from molten basalt at 1,500°C. The fibers are pressed into boards, strips, or blankets. Class A fire rating per GB/T 8624. Used for thermal insulation, fire stops, and acoustic absorption.
How does stone wool compare to glass wool and EPS/XPS foam?
Stone wool: Class A non-combustible, melting point above 1,000°C, hydrophobic. Glass wool: Class A but lower density, softens around 600°C. EPS/XPS: Class B/E, combustible, releases toxic smoke under fire. Pick stone wool when fire safety, water resistance, or acoustic performance leads the spec.
What does 'Class A fireproof' mean for stone wool?
Class A is the non-combustible classification under Chinese standard GB/T 8624 (equivalent to European A1/A2 under EN 13501-1). The material does not ignite, releases no toxic smoke, and does not contribute to fire spread. Taishi stone wool achieves Class A with melting point above 1,000°C. Common applications: fire barriers, high-rise façades, and critical infrastructure.
How long does stone wool insulation last?
Stone wool keeps its thermal performance for 50+ years when installed dry and ventilated. Inorganic composition means it does not rot, mold, or shrink, and offers no food source for pests or fungi. No maintenance required.
How do I choose the right density for my project?
Density depends on application: 40-80 kg/m³ for roofing and ceiling (TSW series), 100-120 kg/m³ for sandwich panels and composite slabs (TSX/TSF series), 140-160 kg/m³ for external wall EIFS/ETICS systems (TSH series). Higher density adds compressive strength and acoustic performance, at higher weight and cost. Send your project specs and we recommend a series.
What thermal conductivity values can I expect?
Taishi stone wool achieves thermal conductivity 0.038-0.050 W/(m·K) depending on grade and density. Standard building boards reach ≤0.038-0.040 W/(m·K). The highest-density marine grades reach ≤0.050 W/(m·K). Tested per GB/T 25975.
Why is hydrophobic treatment important for stone wool?
Hydrophobic treatment blocks water absorption. Wet insulation loses thermal performance. Taishi products reach >98% hydrophobic rate (>99% for marine and composite slab series), so insulation keeps its R-value in humid conditions. Matters most for external walls, roofing, and marine environments.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Standard MOQ is one 20-foot container, holding 24-40 m³ depending on series and dimension. First-order trials with smaller mixed loads possible on request. Email or WhatsApp the sales team to scope your need.
What payment methods and terms do you accept?
T/T (Telegraphic Transfer): 30% deposit on order confirmation, 70% balance before shipment. Irrevocable L/C at sight also accepted. Repeat customers may negotiate longer terms. All payments in USD.
Can I request product samples before ordering?
Free samples (typically 300×300 mm) ship in 2-3 business days. Buyer covers DHL/FedEx/UPS courier fee. Request via the contact form or WhatsApp with project name and target quantity range.
Can you produce custom dimensions or specifications?
Custom dimension, density, and thickness orders run from one 40-foot container. Lead time 20-30 working days. Send your spec sheet. Feasibility plus pricing reply within 1 business day.
What shipping terms do you offer?
Standard term is FOB Qingdao (Qingdao Port, Shandong, China). CIF or CFR to your destination port available on request. Freight quotes from major shipping lines. Inland coordination available for landlocked destinations.
How much stone wool fits in a shipping container?
A 20-foot container holds 24-40 m³ of stone wool boards (varies by density and dimension). A 40-foot container holds 48-65 m³. High-density boards (140+ kg/m³) yield fewer cubic meters per container due to weight limits. Loading plan included with every quotation.
What export documents do you provide?
Standard export pack: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading (B/L), Certificate of Origin (CO), plus FM Approval certificate, SGS test report, and series-specific test reports. Fumigation and phytosanitary certificates available on request for markets that require them.
What is the typical production and delivery lead time?
Lead time comes in two parts. Production is 15-20 working days from deposit receipt for standard products (20-30 working days for custom specifications). Ocean transit is separate and quoted port-to-port: indicatively 8-17 days to Southeast Asia, 18-28 days to the Middle East (Jebel Ali), 16-26 days to the North American West Coast, and 32-55 days to Europe. The wider European band reflects the current Cape of Good Hope routing. Transit ranges are indicative, not a guaranteed schedule; see our Shipping & Logistics page for the full port-to-port table.
What does FM Approved Class 4470 mean for your roof products?
FM Approvals Class 4470 is the roof insulation standard from FM Approvals, the testing arm of FM Global (the property insurer behind 1 in 3 Fortune 1000 industrial sites). Our Taishi Hardroof 180 stone wool board carries this approval (ID 3059042 / RR232698, granted 2022-05-12), making it eligible for FM-insured commercial roof systems. Verifiable on roofnav.com. Important: this approval covers roof insulation only and does not extend to wall, marine, HVAC or industrial applications.
Which international standards do your products meet?
Tested and certified to: Chinese GB/T 25975 and GB/T 8624 (primary), European EN 13162 and EN 13501-1 (fire classification), and IMO A.753(18) for marine. Test reports for specific standards available on request.
How can I obtain test reports and certification documents?
Test reports ship by email within 1-2 business days. Email or WhatsApp the sales team with product series and target market. FM Approval and SGS reports already on /certifications for direct download.
How do I verify the authenticity of your certificates?
Each cert card on /certifications shows the issuer, certificate number, and a 'Verify on [Issuer]' link. Direct lookup on FM Approvals, CCS, KTR, Intertek, or the Russian GOST registry. PDFs download without registration. Independent verification typically takes under 2 minutes.
Can you provide all certificates as a single ZIP package?
Yes. Email or WhatsApp the sales team with project name and certificate list (FM, CCS, CE, KS, GOST, RoHS, plus supporting test reports). ZIP package delivered within 1 business day.
