Container Load Calculator
Estimate how much stone wool board fits in a shipping container and how many containers your order needs — by board area or volume, for 20GP, 40GP and 40HQ.
How it works
Stone wool board is priced by area (m²) but ships by volume. This tool converts your quantity and board thickness into cubic metres, then checks both the container's volume limit and its weight limit and reports whichever fills up first. Because rock wool is light for its bulk, it almost always fills the space (cubes out) long before it reaches the weight limit.
Example: 24,000 m² of 60 mm board = 1,440 m³ — roughly 22 × 40HQ.

Typical container loads
Loadable board area per container for common board thicknesses, using the standard 1200 × 600 mm board. Because rock wool cubes out, this depends on thickness, not density.
| Thickness | 20GP | 40GP | 40HQ |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 mm | 990 m² | 2,010 m² | 2,280 m² |
| 50 mm | 594 m² | 1,206 m² | 1,368 m² |
| 60 mm | 495 m² | 1,005 m² | 1,140 m² |
| 80 mm | 371 m² | 754 m² | 855 m² |
| 100 mm | 297 m² | 603 m² | 684 m² |
| 120 mm | 248 m² | 503 m² | 570 m² |
| 150 mm | 198 m² | 402 m² | 456 m² |
| 200 mm | 149 m² | 302 m² | 342 m² |
Figures use conservative published container dimensions with a standard stowage allowance; your factory loading plan may differ.
